美探險家失蹤一週仍無蹤影(No Sign of American Adventurer One Week After Disappearance)

搜尋失蹤的美國探險家史蒂夫.福塞特的救援人員仍然沒有發現他的蹤跡。福塞特的飛機一個星期前在內華達州上空失蹤。搜尋人員目前把注意力集中在福塞特上星期一起飛的小機場方圓80公里的內的地區。

Rescuers searching for missing American adventurer Steve Fossett have found no sign of the pilot, one week after his plane disappeared over Nevada. Searchers are now concentrating on an area within 80 kilometers of the airstrip where Fossett took off last Monday.

During the past week the search was expanded several times, and by now more than 25 thousand square kilometers of rugged desert wilderness have been scanned by low-flying aircraft. Several previously unknown crash sites have been spotted in the mountainous region, but there has been no trace of the 63-year-old millionaire's plane.

Fossett is well known for his record-setting solo flights around the world, by both balloon and plane. He was alone when he set out last week on what was to be a three-hour flight, looking for a large flat area where he could try to set a new land speed record on the ground.

美通緝犯將從香港引渡 (US Fugitive to Be Extradited from Hong Kong)

一名被美國通緝的要犯同意從香港引渡回美國，以面對強姦女兒並將錄影在網路上張貼的指控。肯尼斯.弗裏曼星期一對香港一家法庭說，他認為自願接受引渡符合他的最佳利益。弗裏曼去年從美國西北部華盛頓州的家中出逃。在此之前，他被控強姦兒童和製作兒童色情材料。

後來弗裏曼在中國上海附近的蘇州市被發現。但是由於美國同中國沒有引渡條約，所以有關官員一直等到弗裏曼離開中國時才將他逮捕。中國自治的行政特區香港有自己的司法制度，允許向美國引渡。

One of the United States' most wanted fugitives has agreed to be extradited from Hong Kong to face allegations of raping his daughter and posting the video on the Internet. Kenneth Freemen told a Hong Kong court Monday he believes it is in his best interest to voluntarily accept extradition. Freeman fled his home in the U.S. northwestern state of Washington last year after he was charged with child rape and production of child pornography.

Freeman eventually was traced to the Chinese city of Suzhou near Shanghai. However, the U.S. does not have an extradition treaty with China so officials waited for Freeman to leave China before arresting him. China's autonomous southern territory of Hong Kong has a separate judicial system that allows extradition to the U.S.
