President Bush is to attend a religious service today in Washington as part of a national day of prayer and remembrance for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Many churches around the country plan to hold services, but others have said they already have held tributes. Katrina hit the U.S. Gulf Coast nearly three weeks ago.
Clean-up continues in the devastated region. Thursday in hard-hit New Orleans, President Bush promised what he called "one of the largest reconstruction efforts the world has ever seen."
He gave no cost estimate, but some analysts predict it could exceed the 300-billion dollars already spent on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
