墨查獲歷來最大宗毒品：23噸可卡因 (Mexico's Largest Drug Seizure: 23 Tons of Cocaine)

墨西哥政府宣佈查獲了迄今為止的最大一宗毒品，從來自哥倫比亞的一艘船上搜到所藏的23噸毒品。警方說，他們星期二在港口城市曼薩尼約一艘懸挂香港旗的船上發現了隱藏在貨物中的毒品。

The Mexican government has announced the country's largest cocaine seizure: 23 tons of the drug hidden on a ship that arrived from Colombia. Police say they found the drugs Tuesday hidden inside the cargo of a Hong Kong-flagged ship in the port city of Manzanillo.

Authorities are continuing to search the ship. They initially announced the recovery of 11 tons but kept finding more and more cocaine -- as of late Thursday, 21 thousand packages of the drug.

Authorities in Mexico say 80 percent of the southern state of Tabasco is under water in the worst flooding in 50 years. The local governor said Thursday 300-thousand people are waiting to be rescued from what he calls a "shocking" deluge. Helicopters are being used to help save people stranded on rooftops.

At least one person has been killed in what President Felipe Calderon calls one of the worst natural disasters in Mexico's history. The governor says Tabasco state has lost 100 percent of its crops. A cold front is blamed for drenching rain storms, and forecasters say more rain is likely in coming days.
