中國報告禽流感新疫情 (China Reports New Bird Flu Outbreak)

中國報告在西北部的新疆地區發生禽流感新疫情。中國農業部官員星期四說，吐魯番的11例禽類死亡已被證實是具有高傳染性的H5N1禽流感病毒引起。為控制新的疫情爆發，已經有5千隻禽類被宰殺。

在印度尼西亞，當局說，亞齊省的3個區有以數百計感染了致命的H5N1禽流感病毒的雞死亡。

越南衛生部門官員說，對北部港口城市海防一名15歲的男孩進行的H5N1禽流感病毒化驗成陽性。化驗結果還未經世界衛生組織驗證。

2003年以來，亞洲已經有將近70人死於禽流感。所有禽流感死亡病例據信都是跟禽類近距離接觸後引起的。

China is reporting a new outbreak of bird flu in poultry in the northwest Xinjiang region. Chinese Agriculture Ministry officials said Thursday the virus responsible for the 11 dead birds in Turpan city has been confirmed as the highly contagious H5N1 type. More than five thousand birds have been culled to contain the new outbreak.

In Indonesia, agriculture officials say hundreds of chickens infected with the deadly strain of avian influenza have died in three districts in Aceh.

Vietnamese public health officials say a 15-year-old boy from the northern port city of Haiphong has tested positive for the same H5N1 strain of the flu virus. The findings have not yet been confirmed by the World Health Organization.

Nearly 70 people have died from bird flu in Asia since 2003. All known human cases of avian flu are believed to have resulted from close contact with infected birds.

巴格達附近汽車炸彈爆炸至少30人亡 (At Least 30 Dead in Car Bomb Blast Near Baghdad )

星期四，巴格達以南一家醫院外面受到一名自殺式汽車炸彈殺手攻擊，爆炸造成至少30人喪生，20多人受傷。美國軍方表示，發生爆炸的時候，若干美軍人員正在什葉派穆斯林和遜尼派阿拉伯人混居的馬姆迪耶鎮這家醫院巡查。4名美國軍人在襲擊中受傷。

A suicide car bomber has struck outside an Iraqi hospital south of Baghdad Thursday, killing at least 30 people and wounding two dozen others. The U.S. military says that some of its soldiers were on an inspection tour of the hospital, in the mixed Shi'ite and Sunni Arab town of Mahmoudiya, when the bomb exploded. Four American soldiers were wounded in the attack.
