伊朗當局說，一架載有94人的軍用運輸機撞入德黑蘭郊區的一樁公寓樓。來自伊朗首都德黑蘭的最初報導說，這架飛機上的所有人全部喪生，此外還造成地面上至少25人死亡。

Iranian authorities say a military transport plane with 94 people on board has crashed into an apartment building in suburban Tehran. Early reports from the Iranian capital say all on board the plane were killed, along with at least 25 people on the ground.

Authorities say the plane struck a 10-story apartment building -- home to several hundred people -- while trying to make an emergency landing at Tehran's Mehrabad airport.

The aircraft is reported to have developed technical problems shortly after taking off from the same airport on a flight to the southern port city of Bandar Abbas.

Two female suicide bombers have blown themselves up in the classroom of a Baghdad police academy, killing at least 27 people. The U.S. military says at least 32 people were wounded in the mid-day Tuesday attack. No American forces were in the school at the time of the blast. A senior police official said the women -- who wore explosives-filled vests -- were probably not searched because they were students at the academy.

In a separate development, an Iraqi insurgent group claims to have kidnapped an American security consultant and has threatened to kill him within 48 hours unless all prisoners are released. Arabic broadcaster al-Jazeera aired video showing a man with his hands bound. An American passport was also on display.
