Senior Chinese and U.S. officials are set to hold a second day of talks today (Thursday) in Washington on a broad range of bilateral, Asian and global issues.
U.S. State Department spokesman Adam Ereli said the talks are focusing on the responsibility both countries share in making the world more secure and prosperous.
He said U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick and Chinese Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo are discussing ways to coordinate and strengthen international diplomacy.
Mr. Zoellick held similar talks in Beijing in July. The ongoing Sino-American dialogue is in line with a commitment made by President Bush and Chinese President Hu Jintao at last year's APEC meeting in Chile. |
