A bus carrying a wedding party hit a land mine in southern Afghanistan Saturday, and at least 10 people were killed.

Police say the bride and groom were among those killed in the explosion in Kandahar province.

In another development, two French aid workers who were kidnapped in central Afghanistan about two weeks ago have been freed.

Their employer, Action Against Hunger, says the two appear to be in good health, and arrangements are being made for their return to France.

On Friday, international aid agencies working in Afghanistan warned that civilian deaths and attacks against aid workers are on the rise.
 
In other news, the U.S.-led coalition said it killed several militants in an airstrike in the southwestern province of Farah on Friday.  

A report released Friday by an organization that represents about 100 aid agencies in Afghanistan - the Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief, or ACBAR - says 2,500 people were killed in fighting so far this year - 1,000 of them civilians.  

Insurgent attacks are blamed for two-thirds of all reported civilian casualties.  Military airstrikes and excessive force are also blamed.
