A seven-day Mega-Festival of the
Oromo community started today on the campus of the University of Minnesota with
a conference of Muslims. A highlight of
the seven-day conference will be the appearance next week of the well-known
Kenyan political scientist, Ali Mazrui, the Albert Schweitzer Professor in the Humanities
and the director of the Institute of Global Cultural Studies of the
State College of New York in Binghamton.

feature reports on many of the activities that will occur during the
conference, including cultural shows, a soccer tournament, 5,000 and
10,000-meter races and gatherings of several major Oromo organizations in the
diasporo. The festival is sponsored by
the Oliqaa Foundation of Atlanta, Georgia.
