Envoys for the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, say they are disappointed by what they described as China's lack of sincerity during the latest round of talks.

Lodi Gyari and Kelsang Gyaltsen also say unless China addresses what they called its lack of a "serious and sincere commitment," further talks would be pointless.

The envoys issued a statement Saturday, after meeting with Chinese officials in Beijing this past week.

They say although the two sides plan to meet again in October, after the Olympics (in August), Chinese officials still refused to issue a joint statement to show their commitment to further talks.

Earlier (on Friday), Gyari had said there was a widespread belief the Chinese only agreed to meet because of their need to project a positive international image ahead of the Olympics.
