An explosion has rocked a crowded market in India's capital, New Delhi, killing a boy and wounding at least 18 others.

Police say witnesses saw two men on a motorcycle drop a black plastic bag containing a lunch box (Saturday) outside a shop at the Mehrauli market. The market is a popular destination in the Indian capital.

Officials say a boy picked up the packet, and it blew up.

Authorities say the bomb contained ammonium nitrate and was packed with nails. The explosion destroyed several nearby shops. Police cordoned off the area.

After the blast, India's home minister summoned top intelligence and security officials to the capital for an emergency meeting to discuss the latest attack.

Today's explosion comes two weeks after a series of bombings killed 22 people in markets across New Delhi.

No one has claimed responsibility for today's attack.
