Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) has recently
approved a policy that plans to encourage and promote Lao overseas to go back
to Laos. According to an anonymous Lao
high-ranking official of this government agency, LFCN will send its
representatives to Lao Consular Sections and Embassies in many countries to
provide the correct information on this Lao government¡¦s policy to avoid

This newly adopted policy will address the wish of Lao
people, who live in overseas, to come back to Laos to visit families, conduct
merit activities and festivities, invest, operate business and to live
permanently in Laos as well as the issues of gaining Lao citizenship under Lao
laws. This policy is adopted because
Lao government has learned from the experience of Vietnam, which has similar
political and government system, and has successfully implemented this kind of
policy for over ten years. However, Lao
government foresees that it will take a longtime for Laos to successfully
implement this policy as Laos still needs to put budget, human resources, laws
and regulations in place.Listen to Songrit's report for more details in Lao.
