Dalai Lama Suspends Travel, Citing Exhaustion

Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai lama, has suspended his upcoming engagements to undergo medical tests, after experiencing discomfort during recent travels.

The Dalai Lama's office announced Wednesday that the 73-year-old Buddhist leader is canceling planned trips to Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The announcement says his doctors have diagnosed exhaustion and recommended that he complete medical tests that he began earlier in Mumbai, India.

All his appointments and visits for the coming three weeks have been canceled, The Dalai Lama spends several months a year traveling to promote Tibet's cause. He recently returned to India after a visit to France.
