The ¡¥Patriotic Re-education¡¦ Backlash

25-06-2008

Ever since the protests against Chinese rule that erupted across Tibet this year, China has intensified its 'patriotic re-education' programs in monasteries and other organizations throughout Tibet. Analysts say that the lack of genuine religious freedom in Tibet, and more specifically, the forcing of Tibetans to denounce the Dalai Lama, may be two of the major causes of anger and unrest in the TAR and other Tibetan regions.

Kunleng invites Tsering Wangchuk, former reporter for Lhasa based Tibet Radio, and Ven. Adruk Tsetan, a recent arrival from Tibet to discuss the topic.

Kunleng TV is simulcast on television via satellite, on shortwave radio, and via the Internet in real time. Tune in every Wednesday at 1400-1500 UTC, 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm Lhasa time.
